Freddie
Freddie is a 2 year old handsome white and liver male German Shorthaired Pointer. Freddie is a very active boy who hasn’t had much training. He was surrendered to us when his owner moved to a condo with no yard, and no longer had the space and time to give Freddie the proper exercise, training and stimulation he needs.
The Basics
Gender: Male
Age: 2
Dogs: Good with well mannered, socialized dogs
Good with Cats: Lived with a cat
Kids: Older children as he gets very excited and can overwhelm young children
The Good Stuff:
Crate trained
Loves to play fetch
He is loving and enjoys getting affection from people
Knows the commands “sit”, “stay” and “down”
The Challenges:
It is unknown if Freddie is house trained - we presume he is not, so he will need to be house trained in a new environment so he can learn the routine.
Hyper and energetic and jumps, but training and daily exercise will go a long way in helping to curb these habits.
Freddie needs work on leash walking, as he pulls hard on a leash. He hasn’t had much leash training, so it is a must to be able to enjoy your walks.
Overly excited when not properly introduced to other dogs. Needs work on socialization. Needs to be managed.
Freddie has some separation anxiety, so a home where someone is retired, or works from home, and has the time every day to spend with Freddie, and give him the attention, exercise and training he needs will be ideal.
What our volunteers are saying about Freddie:
Huge goofball. Very energetic and doesn't seem to realize how big he is or where his paws are going. Not incredibly aware of his surroundings. He is very lovable and enjoys getting affection, especially ear scratches. He needs a lot of leash work, he is very strong and pulled hard on leash today. He calmed down a little after walking for a few minutes, but is not an easier dog to walk.
Showed interest in both large and small dogs, and attempted to engage all the dogs to play with him. Doesn’t appear to have had much training in socializing with other dogs.
