Meet JCletus! A Big Heart Looking for His Forever Home

Some dogs steal your heart with their puppy antics. Others do it simply by leaning against you, resting their head in your lap, and reminding you how wonderful it feels to be loved.

JCletus is one of those dogs.

If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate companion who thinks he’s a professional couch potato, JCletus may be your guy! This handsome 9½-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer is a total cuddle bug who loves his people and just wants to be close to them.

JCletus is a goofy, lovable boy with a big personality. He enjoys exploring the outdoors, chasing lizards, going on hikes and long walks, and playing fetch. But after a day of adventure, his favorite place is right beside you on the couch, soaking up all the cuddles he can get.

He knows his basic commands, including come, sit, heel, and down, and he is house trained. He does pull on a regular leash, but he walks very nicely with a Gentle Leader.

JCletus does best with well-mannered, well-socialized dogs. He does not do well with cats, so a cat-free home is a must. He has lived with children, but because he doesn’t always realize how big he is, he can accidentally knock smaller children over. A home with older children or adults would likely be the best fit.

One of JCletus’s biggest needs is having someone around most of the time. He experiences separation anxiety, so a person who works from home, is retired, or otherwise spends a lot of time at home would be ideal. He is house trained but not crate trained, and a crate is not currently his comfort zone.

JCletus will also need a secure, fenced yard. He doesn’t typically jump fences, but when left outside alone, he can be quite the little escape artist! He loves being outdoors and exploring, so his family will need to make sure he is safely contained.

Fireworks are another challenge for this sensitive boy. They frighten him, so he will need to be kept safely inside and never left alone outside during fireworks or other loud celebrations.

JCletus may be 9½, but he still has plenty of life and love to give. He’s an affectionate, silly, adventurous boy who would love nothing more than to find a family who understands his needs and lets him be their loyal companion.

JCletus isn’t looking for a perfect family — he’s looking for his family. And in return, he’ll give you plenty of love, laughs, companionship, and some seriously good couch cuddles.

He has spent 9½ years learning how to love, and he still has so much love left to give. He’s looking for someone who will see past his quirks, understand his needs, laugh at his goofy personality, enjoy his adventurous side, and then let him curl up beside them at the end of the day.

JCletus isn't asking for a perfect home. He's asking for a forever home where he can be someone's beloved boy.
