Meet Klause, an adorable Liver Roan German Shorthaired Pointer whose sweet personality is impossible to miss.

Klause is very affectionate with people and has already shown what a sweet, loving dog he can be. At just one year old, he greets each day with playful curiosity and an eagerness to experience everything life has to offer.

Klause is still just a baby in the world of GSP’s, and he has so much to learn. He is young, energetic, intelligent, and incredibly eager to experience life. He needs someone who will see that energy not as a problem, but as an opportunity to help him become the incredible dog he is meant to be.

And Klause needs you to understand something important:

Like many young GSP’s, Klause is full of energy and ready to go! He needs an active person or family who understands that his exercise and training aren't occasional activities — he needs them every single day, with no days off. An active person or family who is ready to get outside with him, give him plenty of physical exercise, work his mind, and continue teaching him how to be the best version of himself. He would thrive with someone who enjoys hiking, walking, running, training, exploring, and keeping both his body and his clever GSP mind busy. Klause would love to do it all with his person.

He's already showing that he can be a wonderful companion. He pulls a little on leash, but it's very manageable. He is crate trained, although we aren't sure yet whether he is completely house trained.

Klause also enjoys having canine friends. He does well with both large and small dogs, but there is one important rule: mealtimes need to be separate. Klause is protective of his food, so he needs to eat away from other dogs to keep everyone comfortable and safe.

We don't yet know how Klause feels about cats or small children, so those situations will need to be carefully evaluated.

What Klause Needs

Someone who will love him and be patient with him
Someone committed to continuing his young-dog education
A home that understands the needs of an energetic young GSP
An extremely active home committed to daily exercise
Someone willing to continue his training and help him mature
A home where can enjoy canine friends with proper management
Must be separated from other dogs during meals
A safe, loving home where he can grow and thrive

Klause doesn't need someone who expects a perfectly finished dog.

He needs someone who is willing to help him become one.

He's one year old. His whole life is ahead of him. There are hikes he hasn't taken, trails he hasn't explored, toys he hasn't played with, commands he hasn't learned, and sunsets he hasn't watched beside the person who will someday call him their own.

Somewhere out there is the person who will look at this energetic, goofy, affectionate young GSP and say:

“You're my boy. We're going to figure this out together.”

Klause is ready.

He just needs someone to give him that chance.
