From Backyard Chains to a Second Chance: Cisco’s Story

What does freedom look like to a dog who’s spent years tied up in a backyard? For Cisco, an 11-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer mix, a gentle wag of his tail hints at his friendly nature. He walks with care, yet there's a glimmer of hope in his steps. The warmth of human kindness comforts him.

Cisco’s journey began in heartbreak. After years of neglect outdoors, he found himself in a crowded shelter in California. Space was scarce, and his time was short. Sadly, no one came to claim him. Volunteers at California GSP Rescue knew he deserved a chance, and thanks to the dedication of the volunteers, Cisco was pulled to safety.

From the start, it was clear he needed care. During his vet visit, Dr. Kang diagnosed Cisco with pneumonia. The X-rays indicated that he would require careful monitoring and follow-up care. Despite his illness, his spirit remained strong. Cisco still enjoyed gentle walks and leaned into every cuddle he could get.

What makes Cisco’s story even more inspiring is how quickly he showed resilience. His evaluation at the shelter with other dogs had mixed results. However, at the rescue, he met both large and small dogs without any significant issues. This suggests that, with patience and effective management, he may do well in a home with other dogs.

Cisco is looking for more than just an adopter. He wants someone who can share love, has a gentle heart, and has the time to watch him thrive.
