In Loving Memory Of Hazel
Before she was Hazel, she was a gentle German Shorthaired Pointer named Jasmine who came to GSP Rescue from Mexico. While in foster care and under the care of Dr. Kang, it was clear her condition would require continued treatment after adoption. Fran and Larry came forward, fully aware of her needs, offering patience, medical follow-through, and a loving home—gifts Hazel returned many times over with her immeasurable affection.
“Hazel came to us from CAGSP rescue 12 years ago. She was skinny and had some skin problems but quickly made friends with our dog Ziggy and from then on we were all inseparable. Hazel was a lover and if you were lucky enough to be her friend, you would be sure to know that you were loved unconditionally. If you were extra lucky you got one of her “woo woos!”
We will remember Hazel for blowing bubbles in her water bowl, for knowing that when I sang the French national anthem, "La Marseillaise” - it was time for a walk, for all the warm cuddles on our bed and the kisses that we placed on her soft head. Even our Vet said she was special and we agree, she was the best dog ever. Hazel died Monday January 5th, 2026 at home in our loving arms. She will not be forgotten. Our sincere thanks to CAGSP rescue for connecting us all those years ago and for their continuing good work on behalf of these lovely dogs”.
Hazel’s life is an example of what rescue can become when compassion and commitment come together. From a fragile beginning to more than a decade as a deeply loved family member, she returned Fran and Larry's unconditional love for the care they so willingly provided. Though she is gone, Hazel’s legacy lives on in the memories she created and in the still, meaningful reminder of how profoundly a rescued dog can change a life. We are deeply grateful to Fran and Larry for adopting Hazel and filling her life with love.
