Rex Is Adopted!
Rex, a 1 year old white and liver Pointer came to us when his family was unable to give him the time, training and exercise he needed. Rex hadn’t had much training, so we were looking for a family that understood the needs of a young GSP, who would be devoted to give Rex plenty of exercise and ongoing training with consistency of commands so he could reach his full potential.
Megan and Ryan applied to adopt a young GSP to join their family. While they had not previously had a GSP, they did have a Weimaraner who was high energy and a big personality similar to a GSP. In their application they said “We are looking for a similar type of dog to fill our lives with laughs and chaos”! Well they came to the right place!
They came out to meet Rex and fell in love with his personality, his energy and his little beard, and were excited to have him join their family.
Rex has been in his new home for a couple of months now, and things are going very well!
“We had a great first night and day so far with Rex. He settled in very well so far and we have really enjoyed getting to know him! He is definitely a lover as he has been cuddling with all of us. He has been good with going outside to do his business so far and slept all through the night in his crate without issue. I’ve attached a few pictures for you!
Thanks again for introducing us to Rex”!
“All is well with Rex. He is a super amazing sweet boy and we are all enjoying him! He has his first vet visit Tuesday. We want to build a relationship with our vet and also noticed he’s continuing to have loose stools even though his diet has stayed the same.
He has been enjoying daily long walks in the canyon by our house and is still working towards earning our trust with backyard and house privileges unsupervised”.
“Rex is doing phenomenally! He has fit into our lives perfectly! He is enjoying dog day care, running around our backyard and frequent cuddle sessions. He has even met our horse and they touched noses instantly. I will need to get a picture of this next time we are at the barn.
Leash walking continues to be our biggest challenge, but we are up to it! The canny collar seemed to be working in the beginning but he really doesn’t like the pull on his face and he responds with frequent stopping and aggressive scratching of the face. I really would like to get the leash training dialed in as I would love to take him on runs. However, our vet encouraged us to keep the distance on his joints minimal until he’s 18 months so I think this will all align.
Funny enough, there are multiple GSP’s in our neighborhood! One I actually know rescued from you 5 years ago! I didn’t catch her name but I will next time. Thank you for all that you do and we appreciate your perfect match-making for our family”!
