Dukie is a 2 year old stunning male all liver German Shorthaired Pointer. He is a big boy, larger than the average GSP. He was an owner surrender, as Dukie’s energy became overwhelming as they were no longer able to give him the attention, training and exercise he needs.
Unfortunately, he was mostly an outside dog, and was rarely exercised. They had him since he was 8 weeks old.
Dukie is very loving and affectionate towards people and gets along well with other dogs, large and did well with the little dog test too! However, he is not eligible for a cat home. He is house trained and crate trained.
Dukie loves to run and chase birds. He needs some work on leash walking as he does pull. He knows sit and shake commands.
He is very smart, and trainable. Since he is very puppy like and on the larger side, even though he is great and lived with children, a home with toddlers is not recommended.
The perfect home for Dukie would be in a home with a secure yard. An active home with someone that understands the breed and can give Dukie the training and exercise he needs.
Unfortunately Dukie has been overlooked by applicants that have come out to meet him who felt he was too big and didn’t have the time to train him, or give him the daily exercise he needs. We are hoping that someone will see and appreciate what a gem Dukie is.
