Meet Indy!

Indy, a beautiful 6 year old female German Shorthaired Pointer is hunting for a home. She’s got a little powdered sugar on her face which just makes her sweeter than she already is.

Indy came into our rescue with a broken leg. She was adopted 2 years ago, and was recently returned by no fault of her own. Her owner’s had to relocate, and move into an apartment which would result in a long commute, and Indy would have been left in an apartment for 12 hours a day. It was a very difficult and heartbreaking decision, but her owners knew it would be best to bring her back, and let us find her a new home.

Indy loves people, and has been around children, and is great with them. She is good with other dogs, but sometimes can be a bit bossy.  She does well with other dogs as long as they don’t overwhelm her or corner her, as she sometimes feels threatened. Her previous owners said she has displayed a fear of small white dogs.

She is house-trained, but not crate trained. She has had some obedience training and knows the commands “sit”, “down”, “heel”, “easy”, “go to bed,” play dead “bang”. She is good on a leash, but pulls a little. She comes when called, so should be easily trained on recall for outings to the beach or other dog friendly off leash areas.

Indy loves to cuddle, and she slept in the bed with her family. At 6 years old, she still has plenty of GSP energy, and is accustomed to getting daily walks, plenty of playtime and does well running alongside the bike.

Indy’s other wonderful qualities is that she is very well behaved; will sit and wait to be petted; will go to her bed on command; will go to a designated spot and wait for food to be put down for her; loves to cuddle. She loves stuffed toys with squeakers, and carries them in her mouth, using the squeaker to express herself. We have also discovered she loves water!

We are looking for a home for Indy with an active person or family who can give Indy the daily exercise, stimulation, playtime and loving human contact. She is quite the catch, and whoever adopts this girl, will truly hit the jackpot.

If you feel you would be a good fit for Indy, and have room in your home and your heart for this sweet girl, please apply here.
