Otis is a 5 year old liver and roan stunning German Shorthaired Pointer. He came to us as an owner surrender, when his family was having a child. There had been an isolated incident that made them uncomfortable with having Otis around children. This was not an easy decision for them, but placed their trust in us, and felt that we would be their best resource for finding him the right forever home.
Otis is house trained and crate trained, and knows several commands. Sit, Stay, Down, Off, Drop It, Take it, Leave it, Come, Heal, Gentle, Fetch, Catch, Spin, Shake, and Find It.
Otis has some other good qualities as well! He does not beg, and does not jump on or bark at guests when they enter the house. His favorite past time is getting to go on his daily run, and fetching tennis balls.
He is a little fearful of other dogs, and would need to be an only dog in the home, or go to a home where someone could work on socializing him with other dogs with gentle slow introductions.
He has been a great hiking companion in his previous home, and loves to track animals while on hikes, so with some training, he could possibly be a good candidate to be a great hunting dog.
Otis will need to go to a home without children, and where he will get plenty of exercise, continued training and stimulation. He loves to run and have room to explore in a fenced secure yard.
