Slake is a 4 year old gorgeous male German Shorthaired Pointer.
Slake was found as a stray, and picked up by a good Samaritan who took him to a local shelter.
He was found running in a remote area with a wound on his left front leg. It appears that he could have been hit by a car. He was put on a stray hold at the shelter, awaiting his owners to come claim him, but they never did. After the hold was up, and he became available to the public, still no one was there to take Slake home, so our volunteer Greg went and picked him up and got him to safety. His wound is healing very well, and he is now available for adoption!
Slake is very affectionate, loves pets and hugs, and like a typical GSP, will follow you around to get your attention and affection. He knows how to retrieve, and walks well on a leash. He seems to get along well with other dogs, and did especially well with a female we had with him in the field. He knows a few commands, “sit”, “shake” and “down”.
Slake needs an active home where he will get plenty of daily exercise and continued training. We feel he would do best in an adult home, or in a home with older children.
