Dear Friends and Family,

For my birthday this year, on January 19th, I’d love for you to skip the gifts and instead, donate to the California GSP Rescue in loving memory of my dearly loved Strider, who I lost just 30 short days ago.

Strider's "Gotcha Day" was on 2/15/08 from a MN GSP rescue group when I lived there. He had been found roaming in fields in frigid winter weather and was thought to be about 3 years old. He was extremely underweight and very ill - but despite that, it was love at first site! He came home with me that day and took over my home and heart. My license plate frame/holder states it most accurately: "My GSP has me well trained"!!

He tried my patience over and over—he almost killed a cat, a squirrel, a rooster and a chicken in the first year I had him. We had grand adventures and traveled so many places together. We did long walks in parks in MN, we hiked in the mountains in CA, we played in the ocean and he taught veterinary students many different skills over his life time.

He is responsible for driving my passion to become involved with the CA GSP Rescue—transporting dogs out of shelters, helping with medical care of our rescue dogs and fostering many different dogs in my home. His “dog brother, Baggins, came from the CA GSP Rescue almost 6 years ago and they were the best of friends.

This year for my birthday and in memory of my Strider, would you consider donating to the CA GSP Rescue? I know he has left not only a huge hole in my heart but a long lasting legacy of future GSP rescue work. Any donation is greatly appreciated, and helps cover costs of the medical bills, food and other expenses the rescue incurs to help other German Shorthaired Pointers get the care they need while they wait for their forever families.

If you are able to donate, this would be a great tribute to Strider and comfort to me.

Thank you so much for this very special gift to the rescue for my birthday and for honoring Strider's memory!

RIP Strider 12.22.17

It is truly the gift that keeps on giving.

Many thanks,

Spring
