Axel is an 11 year old sweet male German Shorthaired Pointer. When we met Axel, he was sitting quietly in a crowded shelter, overlooked day after day. What we found was a sweet, easy dog, who just needed a second chance. Axel doesn’t need long hikes or endless activity. He needs love, short walks, and someone willing to give him the time he deserves.

The Basics
Gender: Male
Age: 11
Dogs: Good with well mannered, socialized dogs
Good with Cats: Unknown
Kids: Unknown

The Good Stuff:

Compared to the 15-year grind of raising a puppy, Axel is the "easy" choice

Sweet demeanor

Easy on the leash and enjoys short walks

Loves getting attention and affection from people

Enjoys the company of other dogs

Rides well in a car

The Challenges:

Shortly after his rescue, something unexpected happened—Axel lost mobility, and we feared the worst. A suspected stroke changed everything. And yet… Axel kept going. With time, patience, and care, he’s slowly recovering—and reminding us all what resilience really looks like.

What our volunteers are saying about Axel:

Really sweet and calm boy

Friendly with people and other dogs

Great on leash

Very relaxed

Loves pets and loves rubbing his body on you for attention
