Meet Jack, a gorgeous young liver GSP with a kind heart, a gentle nature, and a whole lot of love to give.

Jack's family surrendered him when they were no longer able to give him the time and attention a young German Shorthaired Pointer needs. While saying goodbye to a dog is never easy, we are grateful they recognized that Jack deserved a family who could give him what he needs to thrive.

And Jack is ready to start his next chapter.

He's kind, gentle, loving, and noble—a wonderful combination of qualities in a one-year-old GSP.

Jack loves being with people. He isn't looking for a life where he's left to entertain himself. He wants to be part of the family, included in everyday life, and surrounded by people who enjoy having their dog by their side.

He's also a pretty well-rounded young guy.

Jack rides nicely in the car, is crate trained, and has already had some training. In fact, he's quite impressive about his crate routine. He knows when he's told to go in, and he'll wait until he's given permission before coming back out.

Sit. Okay. Eat.

He's already learned some basic commands, giving his new family a great foundation to build upon.

Of course, at just one year old, Jack has plenty more to learn!

He'll need continued, consistent training to help him grow into the wonderful adult dog he's capable of becoming.

And Jack Loves Fetch!

Jack enjoys playing fetch and will happily retrieve the ball.

He doesn't always bring it all the way back each time, but hey—he's a young GSP. He's still working on the finer points of the game.

His leash manners are also coming along nicely. He may pull a little at the beginning of a walk when his excitement kicks in, but after he settles into his rhythm, he mellows out and walks well.

Walks, hikes, running, fetch, training games, playtime, exploring, and other appropriate activities will help Jack use both his body and his mind.

A backyard alone won't be enough. Jack needs a family that wants to do things with their dog and make him a genuine part of their daily life.

He will also need continued, consistent training. He already knows several commands and has demonstrated that he's capable of learning, so his adopter has a wonderful opportunity to continue building on that foundation.

Jack's house-training status is unknown, so his new family should be prepared to establish a consistent routine and work with him as he learns the expectations of his new home.
