Camilla's wish list is quite simple.
A brisk walk, a handful of treats, and then a calm evening getting pets. That’s the heart of Camilla’s wish list. Simple, yet quietly profound.
At about nine years old, this German Shorthaired Pointer waited at a city shelter until volunteer David picked her up. She climbed into the car, curled up in her kennel, and rode comfortably toward her next chapter with California GSP Rescue. We don’t know exactly how she ended up at the shelter, but getting to know her has left us wondering how anyone could pass her by.
Camilla has been a great houseguest; she is house-trained, crate-trained, and has gotten along well with the other dogs in the house. She enjoys car rides, the adventure of going to new places, and being near her people. Volunteer Jan noticed the same kind and pleasant personality at Walk a Dog Day. When the walk began, Camilla was excited and then calmed down, happily taking the treats and attention.
She still enjoys being active. Based on what we’ve seen, a brisk walk once or perhaps twice a day, followed by time together and affection, looks like a good fit for her. For someone considering a German Shorthaired Pointer for adoption, Camilla offers a lovely opportunity to enjoy the breed with a more manageable daily routine.
The video also introduces Ava, a nine-month-old GSP whose family reached out when a medical issue affected their ability to care for her. Ava is affectionate and has a foundation of house and crate training, but she needs the exercise, guidance, and attention of a young dog. We also meet Fireman, a young dog recovering at Arrow View Animal Hospital after being hit by a car.

Older dogs can wait longer simply because adopters look for puppies first. Camilla deserves a closer look. If her kind of companionship sounds right for your semi active home, consider applying to adopt. You can also become a Rescue Hero or share her story. Someone you know may be looking for exactly what Camilla has to give.
