In Loving Memory Of Corazon

Corazon, an exquisite ten-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer came into CAGSP Rescue in March of 2023. She was discovered as a stray in a secluded canyon, and after her owner never claimed her, they reached out to us to assist. With all she had endured, Corazon's exuberant spirit never waned, and she had a remarkable zest for life. Despite her age, Corazon's boundless energy and playful demeanor undoubtedly melted your heart.

Sally was persistent to ensure she found her GSP Jack a new friend. She worked with us as we tried to find the right match, and it was a perfect fit.

“Just adopted a friend for our Jack from California GSP Rescue.  I can’t say enough about this organization. They listened to our story … Jacks best friend Bill passed at the age of 15 leaving him oh so lonely.  Fast forward and lots of emails and phone calls to California GSP Rescue, and ta da, meet Corey! She is a senior, and must of had a heck of a lot of puppies in her day. She was discarded but she’s has a forever home now. Jack fell in love with this gentle cougar. ( older woman younger man) lol. Here’s to many happy years together. We love you Corey and sooo does Jack”

We recently received the sad news that Corazon has passed away. We are truly grateful to Sally for reaching out to adopt a senior GSP, and for giving Corey her best life surrounded by an abundance of love.

“This is a message that I never thought we have to send because I truly thought our Corey would live forever. She passed Sunday March 29th peacefully during her evening nap with Jack by her side. She did it her way.

A little background… she had a rough day loss of balance… we had her vet come to the house and by that time Corey was up and about hunting lizards with Jack. Her Vet was puzzled, and did a complete blood panel which came back good except her platelets were a tad high. She did a complete ultra sound also, which showed cancer on her spleen. So we started our journey of great parts of her days and very sleepy parts of her days. We were on a roller coaster, but most of all wanted her comfortable and she still loved to eat.

The day started off great. She took a dip in the pool and spent time lizard hunting. I truly thought we would have many more days. About 4:00 our son captured this last photo of his daughter being steadied by sweet Corey. She had her fav chicken dinner at 5 and then curled up on her bed by the open slider and went to eternal sleep with Jack close by.

We are devastated. She was the sweetest, most appreciative dog to join our family. We feel like she had been ours for much longer than 2 1/2 years. She was family to all that met her, and we are forever in CAGSP Rescue’s debt for placing her with us”.
