In Loving Memory Of Kaya

Today we remember and celebrate Kaya, who was once called Bijou. Since her adoption in 2013, she brought endless happiness to her family. Kaya was rescued with her litter of GSP Mix puppies from a shelter in Imperial Valley. Even as a pup, she was especially cute and a bit easier to handle than purebred GSP’s, which made Riikka and Ian fall in love with her right away. After joining their family, Kaya started a life full of love, the kind of life we hope for every dog we rescue. She loved exploring new places in the family RV and greeted each day with a joyful and gentle heart. As she got older, Kaya became a caring and patient friend to her younger sister, Rhona, and the two grew very close. Please take a moment to reflect on her life with Riikka, Ian, and Rhona

“We want to thank you once more for giving us our angels Kaya ( Missy’s pup 2013 aka Bijou) and Rhona ( aka Sapphire 2022).’

We lost Kaya to bone cancer few days ago. She was diagnosed 8 weeks ago while we were traveling in Nova Scotia and the time came while we are traveling in Newfoundland. We are very thankful that we had “extra” weeks to totally spoil her even more than normal.. hehe… we were all swimming with her in a lake 2 days before and the morning off, she.. still…ate half of Rhona’s breakfast!! Ha ha!!

But it was time and we all held her when she flew across the rainbow bridge. She was deeply loved by us all and Kaya and Rhona were great friends and team in every occasion.

We are all heart broken but we shall keep going and Rhona is keeping the Newfoundland squirrels in order for Kaya as well now”!

Although Kaya is no longer with us, we hope that the memories of her loyalty and joyful companionship will continue to comfort Riikka, Ian, and Rhona. We are truly grateful for the wonderful life her loving family gave her.
