Meet Lincoln: The Sweet & Goofy German Shorthaired Pointer

What happens when a forgotten shelter dog finally gets a second chance?

For Lincoln, a young German Shorthaired Pointer, that chance came just in time. Found as a stray and left unclaimed at the animal shelter, he was scared, shut down, and heartbroken. With no one coming for him, his future looked grim — until Marissa and Fight For Paws saw him.

The transformation was almost instant. Within days of entering foster care, Lincoln went from withdrawn and quiet, to playful, goofy, and affectionate. Marissa, his foster, describes him as a “shadow dog” — happiest when he’s right by your side, whether you’re lacing up shoes or heading out for a walk.

Lincoln is housebroken, eager to please, and full of energy. Daily walks, runs, and playtime bring out his best self, reminding us just how resilient rescue dogs can be. He enjoys toys, snuggles, and mealtime. He’s still mastering his manners, so coffee shop training is an ongoing process. His progress highlights his incredible potential.

Not everything has been easy — a recent bee sting gave his foster a scare and triggered a flurry of phone calls. Thanks to quick care, Lincoln is now back to his bouncy, silly self. That small bump in the road only highlights the love and dedication poured into every rescue story.

Lincoln is ready for his forever home — one filled with patience, activity, and plenty of love.
