Tom Is Adopted!

Tom, a young German Shorthaired Pointer puppy, a breed brimming with energy and intelligence.

Tom's story, while heartbreaking, is a testament to responsible pet ownership. His previous family loved him dearly but faced an unexpected health challenge that made it impossible for them to provide the active lifestyle a German Shorthaired Pointer thrives on. Rather than simply giving Tom up, they sought out a rescue, ensuring he would find a home with someone who understood the breed's needs and could provide the love and attention he deserved. We vowed to keep that promise for Tom, just as we do for every dog that comes through our door.

Chris and Rob applied to adopt a young male GSP for their family, and a companion for their 8 year old GSP Mix, Gunner, after their beloved Lab passed away. They were prepared and committed to the daily training and exercise a young puppy needs consisting of daily walks and runs, playing fetch, hide and seek and swimming. They also took their dogs on hikes and camping trips with them. Having had Gunner at 6 weeks old, they experienced puppy hood with the normal, stealing toys, digging, house training and the normal puppy energy. They had plenty of time and love to give.

Tom caught their eye on our website, and inquired about him. They were excited to come out with Gunner and meet Tom, and everything went great!

Tom now known as Trigger has been in his home for a year now, and there are some great puppy stories from Chris and Rob. It goes to show, you’ve got to have a lot of patience with raising a puppy and also a great sense of humor!

One Month Update

“Trigger is a great dog. We went out of town a couple weekends ago and left the boys with a dog sitter. He wasn't happy and chewed our couch. Since then he's been chewing stuff up. It was a rainy weekend so between that and leaving him maybe he was acting out. Typical puppy stage. He goes through toys like no other. I've bought the k9 brand that has a money back guarantee, and eventually he goes through those. He is the most loving dog ever so It's hard to be mad.

We did have a run in with the shark vacuum and his poop. That was so bad all we could do was laugh and throw the vacuum away. My mom loves to here Trigger stories (she likes a good laugh). We have a new grandson and they came out to visit for a weekend and Trigger loved the baby. He didn't want to leave the baby's side and was very worried when he cried. I was a little worried how he would be around a baby because he is like a bull in a China shop. He really is a great loving dog and we wouldn't trade him for anything”!

Six Month Update

“Well he's getting better! He's eaten outside cushions, inside couch, pool table cover, bottoms of the sticks on the shutters and his most recent was the corner baseboard! So we have hot sauce on all those things around the house. They are getting a lot fewer and further between. It's a good thing he's so sweet”!

One Year Update

“We can’t believe it’s already been a full year since we brought Trigger (AKA Tom) home! He has brought so much joy and love into our home since day one! He is the sweetest, most loving boy ever! He and our other dog, Gunner, have become the best of friends and love playing together every day! He is super good with the grandkids and especially loves the new baby of the family. He can’t get enough of the baby!

He is incredibly smart and has made wonderful progress with his training, but walking on a leash or when he spots a bunny it can definitely be challenging. He also discovered his favorite way to cool down is in the pool! He loves to float in mom and dad’s arms but swimming in the pool isn’t his favorite yet! Lol.

Of course like most puppies, the chewing stage was challenging from chewing baseboards, to a couch, and many other items. Luckily that seems to be behind us now. We are absolutely crazy about this guy and feel so lucky to have him as part of our family! Thank you Greg and Teri for giving us the opportunity to adopt him! Thank you to the rescue for everything you guys do”!
