Wyoming Is Adopted!
Wyoming came to us when she was just a puppy, found abandoned with her Mom and siblings. She loved everyone, and was just a little joy to have around. Once she was fully vetted, and old enough, she was made available for adoption.
Carey and John applied to adopt a young GSP to join their family, and to be a companion for their 4 year old Weimaraner, Stevie Rae. They were familiar with the breed through an uncle who had a GSP, and they also had a GWP, and hunted with them. They were fully aware of their need for exercise, and their temperaments, and weren’t looking for a hunting dog.
We had recently rescued the family of Weim/GSP mixes, and thought perhaps they may be interested in learning about them. We presented little Wyoming, and they fell in love, and couldn’t wait to bring Stevie Rae to come and meet her. They drove a long way, but we were pretty certain that Wyoming was everything they were looking for. And we were right! Wyoming, now known as Quinn, found her forever home with Carey, John, Stevie Rae and their family, and everyone couldn’t be happier. We have received some updates since Wyoming’s adoption day that we wanted to share with you!
“Hi Teri!
She did great through the night! John got up with her around 5:30 and took her out potty and then I took her again around 7:30. I’ve been working with her this morning already with the clicker and she knows it means treats. And she’s already sitting for her treats. We began the day playing around with a bunch of toys. We still are not sure what her name is yet, but we’ll figure it out hopefully today lol. Thank you so much, she’s doll and I think she is beginning to fit right in. Stevie is a little jealous, but not in a mean way just kind of giving the dirty look thing, but they are very interested in each other.
I kept looking at Wyoming and thinking she reminded me of something and I figured it out in the car. With her longer snout and her eyes are a little closer together…. I said “Barbara Streisand!” John said she’s exotic looking like a European model. Her eyes aren’t really that close together. She just doesn’t have the big forehead dip. She is so darn cute!!!
John just said it’s final…her name is Quinn. I let him name this one, so there ya go.
I will keep you updated for sure and again, thank you so much for going through this process with us.
“We just wanted to give you a quick update! Quinn is settling in quite nicely. We had to learn stairs, new people, new dog and a new cat! She is doing all these things and more! Today is only her second day in her new home and she watches the cat in curiosity and they are completely fine together. Stevie Rae has taken the role of “mama” and follows her around and thinks she is the boss…..we shall see.
Quinn is a complete sweetheart and LOVES to snuggle. She eats with the other dogs with no issue and is learning sit, shake. and down with positive reinforcement. Being food motivated makes this soooo easy! She has sit pretty much down as of today. She is super smart and I’m excited to see what she wants to learn!
Thank you to the entire CA GSP team for all you do, and making it possible to adopt our Quinn. We absolutely adore and love her”!
Our best,
Carey, John, Quinn and family
“Hello guys!
I just wanted to give you our first week update!
Quinn has settled in and has mastered, “sit” and “come”. She is a pro at the stairs now and is learning the doggy door! Stevie has taken over the mama role and they snuggle together after Stevie finally decided that the new annoying baby is pretty cute.
Quinn has an extremely kind disposition and just a sweet, sweet soul. We are so lucky she found her way to us! What a special little girl! She follows us everywhere but will also play independently.
I hope you are doing well, and we want to thank you again for all you do and all you have done for us”.
My best,
Carey and family
“Hello!
I just wanted to check in and update you on Quinn. She is growing fast and has put on some healthy weight, which took some time. The vet says she is at a perfect “growing” weight. Lanky like a teenager but super healthy!
Quinn took a minute to get used to the leash and walks, but now loves loose leash walking, (I feel, one of the hardest things to train!) Potty training took a minute too. She cruises through that doggy door so fast that at times we may or may not forget you have a rear that needs to follow, and potty training is pretty much complete! She loves her sister, (more like mother) and they love to play together.
Quinn is super smart and has learned sit, shake, down, and wait very quickly. We will be working on some fun stuff soon. It’s fun to see her eager to learn.
We could not be more grateful for our girl, nor could we love her more! She is living the life here with us and I can’t imagine our lives without her. She is healthy, smart, so very sweet and most importantly, so loved.
I am so impressed with the rescue and how things are run. I know that every little thing from getting dog food, the vet bills to dog bowls, etc, takes time and effort to make things run. Thank God for people like you and Greg that place these little souls in good homes. You guys are amazing!
We will forever be grateful for all of you for rescuing Quinn and her family”.
Much love,
Carey, Quinn, and family
