Cisco

This sweet senior, estimated to be 11-12 years old, is looking for a loving place to spend his golden years getting pets and naps. He arrived in rescue with a scary bout of pneumonia, but we're happy to report he has made a full recovery and has been cleared for adoption by Dr. Kang!

We are looking for someone who appreciates the ease of exercising a senior. A short walk around the block is sufficient. No need to spend one to two hours a day exercising a young trouble-seeking GSP! Cisco does well with well-mannered dogs that respect his space, but he is probably not a good candidate for a young, active pup.

The Basics:

• Gender: Male

• Age: Estimated 11-12 years

• Dogs: Cohabitates with quiet, well-behaved dogs

• Cats: Not interested

• Kids: OK with older children

• Little shy at first, once he is comfortable

The Good Stuff:

• Exercise: The easiest dog we have! Requires only a short, leisurely walk.

• Trainable: Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? He quickly learned how to use a doggy door and didn’t have any accidents!

• Calm & Affectionate: He is a mellow, sweet boy who is very relaxed and loves to follow his people around for affection and pets.

• Social & Friendly: Prefers people over dogs. Prefers quiet, easy-going, well-mannered dogs over hyper puppies!

The Challenges:

• Manners: Cisco is still learning the basics like "sit" and is improving on his leash manners. He will thrive with a patient adopter who continues his positive reinforcement training.

• Other dogs: Not a fan of overly active or hyper pups. Would need to be managed if there were younger, rambunctious dogs in the home.

• Exercise: Even though he doesn’t need hours of running like younger dogs, daily light exercise is important to prolong his life and keep him happy.

Cisco spent his last few years tied to a tree in someone’s backyard before he “escaped”! How he escaped we’ll never know, but he needs a home where he is loved and gets plenty of attention. For those of you that like a walk around the block and chilling with a good movie, Cisco is your boy!
