Cisco is an estimated 13-year-old senior who is looking for something he may have never had enough of in his life — a soft place to rest, a loving person nearby, and a home where he knows he is safe and wanted.

Cisco spent the last few years of his life tied to a tree in someone's backyard. Somehow, this sweet senior managed to escape. We may never know how he did it, but perhaps Cisco knew exactly what he was looking for.

A better life.

Thankfully, he found his way to rescue.

When Cisco arrived, he was suffering from a frightening case of pneumonia. But this old boy proved just how resilient he is. He received the care he needed, made a full recovery, and has been cleared for adoption by Dr. Kang.

Now Cisco is ready for the part of his life that matters most:

Being loved.

The Easiest Kind of Companion

If the thought of exercising a young GSP for hours a day makes you tired just thinking about it, we have good news.

Cisco is probably the easiest dog in rescue to exercise!

A short, leisurely walk around the block is enough to keep him happy. He doesn't need marathon hikes, endless games of fetch, or hours of running.

He just needs a little fresh air, a little movement, and then he's perfectly happy to return home and settle in.

Perhaps beside you.

Because Cisco's favorite thing seems to be his people.

He's a little shy when he first meets you, but once he becomes comfortable, his sweet personality comes shining through. He's relaxed, affectionate, and loves pets. He'll happily follow his people around the house, just wanting to be near them.

At this stage of life, Cisco has decided that being someone's shadow is a pretty wonderful way to spend the day.

Things Cisco's Forever Family Should Know

Cisco is still learning some basic manners, including “sit,” and is continuing to work on his leash skills. He'll do best with a patient adopter who uses positive reinforcement and understands that an older dog may need a little time to adjust.

He also isn't interested in sharing his home with young, hyperactive dogs. If there are other dogs in the household, they should be calm, respectful, and willing to give Cisco his space.

And while Cisco doesn't need much exercise, daily light movement is still important to keep his senior body healthy and his mind happy.

Cisco would do best in a quiet, peaceful home without children where he can relax and enjoy his people.
