Meet Dubai — A Big, Beautiful Boy With a Mellow Heart

Dubai | 5 years old | Male | Black & White Roan | German Shorthaired Pointer

Meet Dubai, a stunning, larger-than-life GSP with a beautiful black-and-white roan coat, a big personality, and an equally big heart.

At five years old, Dubai has already experienced the heartbreak of losing his home. He was surrendered when his owner was no longer able to provide him with the attention and exercise he needs.

We're so glad Dubai is now safe with us.

And as we've gotten to know him, we've discovered a beautiful, friendly, energetic, and surprisingly mellow boy who is simply looking for someone to give him the life he deserves.

Dubai is a big, strong dog, but don't let his size fool you. He's actually quite manageable on leash. He does pull a little, especially when something catches his attention, but he walks well overall and responds to his handler.

His favorite thing to do isn't necessarily chasing a ball or playing with toys.

Dubai likes to explore.

He enjoys walking around, sniffing, taking in his surroundings, and seeing what the world has to offer. He's curious without being frantic and has a wonderfully chill personality.

He doesn't try to escape the field. He isn't constantly looking for something to get into. He simply enjoys being outside with his people.

And that's an important part of Dubai's story.

He wasn't getting enough exercise in his previous home.

This handsome boy needs a family who understands that a GSP needs more than a backyard. Dubai needs daily opportunities to walk, sniff, explore, learn, and spend quality time with his people.

Give him those things, and you'll discover what a wonderful companion he can be.

Dubai Is Looking for a Confident Partner

Dubai hasn't had a lot of formal training and doesn't appear to know many commands yet.

That's actually an exciting opportunity.

He's five years old, but it's never too late to learn. His new family will need to provide consistent, positive training and clear boundaries while helping him understand what is expected of him.

Because Dubai is a larger, strong dog, his adopter should be confident, experienced, and consistent—someone who can calmly guide him and continue working on his leash skills and basic manners.

He doesn't need a heavy hand.

He needs leadership, structure, patience, and love.

Things Dubai's Forever Family Should Know

Dubai needs daily exercise and training to keep him happy and fulfilled. His previous home wasn't providing enough activity, so his new family should be prepared to make exercise and enrichment part of his everyday routine.

He walks well but can pull, and because he's a big, strong boy, his adopter should be comfortable handling a powerful dog.

Dubai has not had much formal training and doesn't appear to know basic commands yet. His family will need to start building that foundation with patience and positive reinforcement.

He also needs to be house trained in his new environment as he learns his family's routine.

Dubai is crate trained, which will be a helpful foundation as he settles into his new home.

He can become vocal if left alone for long periods, so he would do best with a family that can provide plenty of companionship and gradually teach him that being alone is okay.

Dubai is also afraid of fireworks and will need a calm, secure place to retreat during loud celebrations.

What Our Volunteers Say

“Beautiful, friendly, energetic, strong boy.”

“Very manageable on leash.”

“Mellow personality.”

“Friendly, chill dog.”

“Likes to sniff and explore.”

“Wasn't getting enough exercise in his previous home.”

Dubai isn't a dog who needs to be entertained every second.

He isn't obsessed with a tennis ball.

He isn't trying to climb out of the field.

He isn't looking for chaos.

He's simply a big, handsome, mellow GSP who wants to be included in his person's life.

Take him for a good walk.

Let him sniff.

Give him something new to explore.

Work on some training.

Spend time together.

Then let this big boy settle into his crate or his own comfortable space and relax.

Dubai has so much potential.

He may not know “sit” yet, but he can learn.

He may pull a little on his walks, but he can improve.

He may not have had enough exercise before, but his future can look very different.

What Dubai needs isn't complicated.

He needs someone who will make him a priority.

Someone who understands his size and strength.

Someone who will provide structure and training.

Someone who will give him the daily exercise his body and mind need.

Someone who will be patient while he learns.

And most importantly, someone who will love him.

In return, you'll have a beautiful, friendly, mellow GSP who is ready to become your loyal companion.

If you're an experienced or confident dog owner looking for a larger GSP with a calm personality, a sweet nature, and plenty of potential, Dubai may be the boy you've been waiting for. Complete an application here.

His first home couldn't give him the life he needed. His next home can.

Dubai is ready for his second chance.

All he needs is someone willing to show him what it feels like to be truly loved, exercised, guided, and included.
