Meet Ellie — A Sweet Family Girl Looking for a Home With Her Brother

Ellie | 7 years old | Female | Liver & White | German Shorthaired Pointer

Meet Ellie, a beautiful liver-and-white GSP with gorgeous liver ticking, a liver patch across her back, a liver-colored head, and a full tail.

But as beautiful as Ellie is on the outside, it's her sweet, loving personality that really makes her special.

Ellie is a wonderful, well-mannered girl who is incredibly easy to walk, loves her treats, and knows several commands. She has lived in a home, is house trained, and has spent her entire life surrounded by family—including children and other dogs.

And there is one very important part of Ellie's story:

She has spent her entire life with her brother, Thor. They are bonded, and we want them to stay together.

A Girl Who Loves Her Family

Ellie came into rescue with Thor after the person who had agreed to care for them while their previous family worked to secure housing was unfortunately unable to find a stable home for the dogs.

After spending her entire life with her brother, we know that Thor is an important part of Ellie's world.

We're looking for a special family who will open their home to both Ellie and Thor, giving them the security and stability they've been missing.

And what a pair they are!

Ellie is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves being around her people. She grew up with small children and enjoys being part of the entire family. She loves getting pets and attention and is happiest when she's included in whatever her people are doing.

When it's time to relax, Ellie is perfectly happy to lie down beside her favorite person and simply enjoy being together.

Sweet, Smart & Well-Mannered

Ellie is one of those dogs who makes you smile because she already knows how to be a good companion.

She's house trained and lived comfortably inside with her previous family.

She's not crate trained, but she does well in a home environment and knows several commands, including:

“Sit” • “Down” • “Out”

She's also very treat motivated, which should make continued training a lot of fun.

On leash, Ellie is super easy to walk. She doesn't need to be constantly managed, and she's happy to stroll along with her person.

She isn't particularly interested in most toys, but give her a ball and some room to run, and you'll see her playful side come out!

She also enjoys playing with her people and a good rope toy.

And apparently, butterflies are irresistible.

Ellie & Other Dogs

Ellie has lived successfully with other dogs, including her brother Thor, a male Chihuahua, and a female Queensland Heeler. She has done well with well-socialized, well-mannered smaller dogs.

She is, however, an alpha girl.

When meeting new dogs, she can sometimes overwhelm them initially, but once everyone settles in, she has done well.

Her new family should therefore introduce her to other dogs thoughtfully and allow her time to establish appropriate relationships.

Because Ellie and Thor are bonded, however, Thor is the dog who belongs by her side.

Things Ellie's Forever Family Should Know

Ellie is not crate trained, so her new family should not expect her to immediately be comfortable in a crate.

She is house trained and has lived successfully inside, but her new family should still give her time to adjust to a new routine.

Ellie can be an alpha with other dogs and may initially overwhelm dogs who are more reserved. Proper introductions and thoughtful management will be important.

She is not a candidate for a home with cats.

And most importantly, Ellie and Thor are bonded and should be adopted together.

A Lifetime Together Deserves a Forever Home Together

Imagine being with someone your entire life.

Growing up together.

Sharing a home.

Sharing your family.

Learning the routines of everyday life together.

And then, suddenly, everything changes.

That's what happened to Ellie and Thor.

Through all the uncertainty, they have still had each other.

So we're hoping that their next chapter can be different.

We want them to have a home where they can settle in, feel safe, and finally know that they aren't going anywhere.

Ellie will bring so much to that family.

She's the girl who will happily walk beside you on a leash.

The girl who knows “sit” and “down.”

The girl who loves treats.

The girl who wants all the pets.

The girl who will lie beside you when you're relaxing.

The girl who might suddenly decide that chasing a butterfly is the most important thing in the world.

And the girl who will always have her brother Thor nearby.

At seven years old, Ellie has moved beyond the craziness of puppy hood, but she still has plenty of life and personality to share. She's sweet, affectionate, well mannered, house trained, and wonderfully easy to live with.

She doesn't need a complicated life.

She needs a stable one.

A family who will include her.

A family who will love her.

A family who understands her.

And a family who will open their home to both her and Thor.

Because Ellie has never had to imagine life without her brother—and we don't want her to start now.

If you're looking for a sweet, loving GSP and have room in your heart for a bonded pair, Ellie and Thor are waiting for someone who will give them the forever home they deserve.

Two siblings. One lifelong bond. One family still waiting to be found.
