Gerald
Gerald is an 18 month old German Shorthaired Pointer mix who we rescued from a shelter. He stood out with his unique face, his calm demeanor, and he handled the shelter environment with quiet confidence. He shared a kennel with other dogs, settled easily in the car, and proved himself to be a relaxed companion during errands, walks, and downtime.
A DNA test revealed Gerald is over 60% German Shorthaired Pointer—and closely related to Arnold, another similar looking GSP Rescue alum.
Gerald’s personality speaks for itself: social, adaptable, and ready to fit into everyday life. A little shy at first, he warms up quickly with kindness and patience. Long walks have become his favorite ritual, and after an hour of exploring, he settles in, content just to be near his people. Gerald has energy, but he doesn’t need to be in motion every second. He’s the kind of companion who fits into the rhythm of real life.
At Dr. Kang’s office, the last traces of Gerald’s past—scarring on his face that is healing nicely, likely from a run-in with a critter—were already fading. He got a clean bill of health. No lingering worries. Just a happy, healthy dog, ready for his next chapter.
Gerald thrives with the other dogs he has met and soaks up every bit of attention. There’s an easy confidence about him that makes him a natural fit for a home with other pups, or for someone searching for an active, but truly manageable, companion.
German Shorthaired Pointers are incredible dogs for active homes. Gerald will need daily exercise, mental stimulation, and time with his people—but the reward is a loyal, joyful companion. Whether you’re looking for an active companion who doesn’t require constant motion—or simply love a good rescue story—Gerald’s journey is one worth watching.
