From Broken to Brave: Finnick’s Rescue Story

Imagine being a young dog, hit by a car, your leg broken, and left alone in a crowded shelter. Most people would walk past—but California GSP Rescue didn’t. With time running out, Finnick’s story of survival began.

Finnick, a young German Shorthaired Pointer, arrived at the shelter as a stray. No one came forward to claim him. Then came the heartbreaking truth: he had been hit by a car, leaving him with a fractured leg and a deep gash on his paw. In overcrowded shelters, injured dogs are rarely given extra time. Once their short holding period ends, most are humanely euthanized—unless a rescue steps in.

Thanks to California GSP Rescue, Finnick’s story took a different turn. He was rushed to Dr. Kang, who pinned and cast his leg and stitched his paw. The cost? Nearly $4,000. But to everyone who has met Finnick, he is priceless.

Despite everything, Finnick’s personality shines. At first timid and unsure, he’s now learning to trust, trading fear for tail wags, and following his people everywhere. His cone and cast don’t slow him down—he still craves love, attention, and adventure. One of his most endearing quirks? He whined loudly in the car when he heard Greg’s voice on the speakerphone, as if telling his whole story at Dr Kang's.

Finnick is healing beautifully and will soon be ready for his forever family. He’ll thrive with someone active, patient, and prepared to give him the love he’s been waiting for.
