Kaisen Is Adopted!
Kaisen’s Happy Tail
Sometimes the perfect dog doesn’t come in exactly the package you expected. Sometimes, you just have to be open enough to recognize a special dog when you meet him.
Kaisen, an adorable 2½-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer mix came to us after his family’s living arrangements changed and, heartbreakingly, they were no longer able to take him with them.
Kaisen’s Dad was a purebred GSP, while his mom was a mixed breed — and this handsome boy inherited some of the very best qualities of both.
From the moment we met him, Kaisen was a gem.
He loved playing with other dogs and was wonderful with children. He already had some training under his belt and knew several commands, including “sit,” “place,” “stay,” “leave it,” and even how to give you his paw.
But what really made Kaisen special was how eager he was to learn.
He was a sponge — smart, fun, curious, and highly trainable. Whether you wanted to teach him something new, play a spirited game of fetch, or toss a Frisbee for him to chase, Kaisen was ready to be right there with you.
He was also an incredibly social boy. Kaisen would happily accompany his people to dog-friendly establishments, meet new friends, hand out plenty of kisses, and simply enjoy being wherever his family was.
We knew that whoever adopted this amazing boy was going to fall madly in love with him.
And we were right.
Then Madison and Will Came Along
Madison and Will applied to adopt a young dog. They had both grown up with dogs, but they had never owned a German Shorthaired Pointer.
After doing their research and discovering our videos online, they became intrigued by the breed — its friendly temperament, intelligence, trainability, and energy.
They wanted a dog they could take with them everywhere. A dog who would enjoy meeting new people, spending time with other dogs, and being part of their active lifestyle.
They wanted a dog who was social, trainable, fun, and ready to be their companion.
Sound familiar? It sounded like the perfect fit for Kaisen.
There was just one question:
Would Madison and Will be open to a GSP mix? The answer was an immediate yes. So we introduced them to Kaisen.
And sometimes, you just know. Kaisen was perfect for them, and they were perfect for Kaisen.
At that moment, Kaisen found his forever family.
And His Happy Tail Begins…
Since going home, Kaisen has already had quite a few adventures with Madison and Will — exactly the kind of life we hoped this social, happy boy would have.
We couldn't be happier for this adoption, and we are incredibly grateful to Madison and Will for looking beyond the label of “mix,” opening their hearts to Kaisen, and seeing exactly what we saw in him from the beginning:
A truly special dog.
Kaisen didn't need to be a purebred GSP to be everything they were looking for. He just needed someone to see Kaisen.
And they did.
Happy tails, sweet Kaisen! May your adventures, Frisbee games, new friends, car rides, swimming, kisses, and family memories be endless.
You found your people, buddy.
And we couldn't be happier for you.
First night
“Good morning! His first night went well!! He slept through the night & is still sleeping! We’re adjusting his schedule a little bit because we are night owls & Billy works nights so he needs sleep in the AM.
He’s such a fun boy. We were all just sitting in the backyard talking last night & he settled right in. So cute! Something so funny, is we have yet to hear him bark! He did a little grumble when he saw something moving outside, but we have yet to hear him fully bark. So wild!
We had a few accidents in the house, so we’re implementing a schedule. He had a little upset tummy yesterday, I think just because of the stress of a new environment, which we totally expected.
Settled right down after breakfast for a little nap. He has 3 different beds + his crate but he prefers the floor lol!
He’s such a sweet boy! We’re all just in love with him”!
One week update
“Hi!!! I wanted to update you guys on Kaisen! He is settling in nicely! We took him to Bass Pro Shops & he did great. We took him swimming because it’s been a bit toasty here. He has been loving car rides & exploring the garden with his GrandPaw”.
One Month Update
“We have a paddle boarding pup on our hands! Kaisen loved his first trip out & he was the HOOT of the lagoon! Everyone absolutely loved him!
He LOVES to swim! We’re teaching him some pool manners to make sure he doesn’t go in without permission lol
"Kaisen’s sweet personality continues to bloom in our time together. He is the sweetest love & has brought so much joy to our home the first few weeks we’ve had him. He is a water dog & has been enjoying a daily swim in the backyard pool & has taken up paddle boarding in sunny SoCal! He is so goofy & loving & sweet & we are just so in love with him! He is the perfect addition to our family”.
